Online Internships?

Hello,Our college is embarking on some new fully online certificate programs and we would like to incorporate an internship as part of this program.  Does anyone have any best practices to share in how to roll this out effectively?  For students who are not local, do they find their own placements?  If anyone has procedures or templates on tracking the internship, please share:).  Thank you!Amy Valente, CCCSee More

Sharing information collected on online Course and Faculty Evaluations

I was asked how SLN campuses design and implement Course/Faculty evaluations of their online courses. I put the question to the ID community and these are the responses I collected. Thanks to all who responded. If you have something to add or edit, please feel free to add your comments to this discussion.FLCC: Use ANGEL. Modified survey from f2f courses and approved by the union. It's done by creating a separate LOR for each department.   Links to the surveys are published to the courses. The…See More

Who's on the other end?

Once people hear I teach online, I've had a few ask me how I know it's the real student actually taking the online course (assignments, discussions...). What are the latest thoughts on maintaining academic integrity/honesty in making sure online students have not hired someone to take the course for them? There was a recent Chronicle of Higher Education piece that raised some concerns.

Pulling back and looking at learning theories

As a K12 teacher in my formative years, I remember taking education courses while I was teaching high school French to complete my masters. Research on authenticity of student work

Online faculty (and the public at large) frequently have questions about how to maintain academic integrity in online classes. While research shows that people assume more cheating is happening online, there is no conclusive evidence that there is any difference in the amount of cheating that actually occurs...I thought this was an interesting paper on the subject: Assessment Design and Cheating Risk in Online Instruction (… Continue
